About Me
I started out as a child. Thanks, Bill Cosby, for giving us that classic line and so many more laughs over the years. But it’s true. I did start out as the eldest of three sons born to a textile mill worker and his US Postal clerk wife in the small southern town of Iva, SC. But that was years ago.
Nowadays, I am a project manager for Duke Energy Corporation’s Oconee Nuclear Station, located near Seneca, SC. I have a Civil Engineering degree from Clemson University, as well as being registered as a Professional Engineer in two states, but that is what I do, not who I am.
My wife Nancy, the love of my life, and I share a home in Anderson, SC with one spoiled Micro Mini Australian Labradoodle named Jenna. We have two sons, both of which we are extremely proud, who have married and established homes of their own. Four darling grandchildren round out our family, so God has richly blessed us all. Life is good; God is so good; we are richly blessed!
Nancy was gifted with phenomenal senses of color and style. Those talents led to a successful career of silk floral and wreath designs. Initially, she provided her creations to the local retail market, but the illness of Fibromyalgia eventually steered her talents to a bigger, world-wide stage: the Internet. Even that venture is evolving into a how-to series of videos, E-books and teaching opportunities. Her website is: http://www.LadybugWreaths.com, and her blog is: http://www.NancysRamblings.com. Now, we’re entering the world (and I mean the entire world) of internet commerce, doing Fulfillment by Amazon.
Did I mention I’m a rock and roll singer? In 1990, four good friends, who already sang together at church, formed a band. “Those Guys” grew to be a 6-member, classic rock and roll cover band that has provided good times and entertainment for weddings, high school reunions, birthday, staff and Christmas parties in three states for well over 20 years. In fact, the band will celebrate their 25th year in 2015! The band is composed of lead, rhythm and bass guitars, drums and keyboards, with me providing lead vocals and playing a mean tambourine.
When I do get some leisure time, my active pursuits include playing some golf and working out at the local YMCA. It doesn’t get much better than attending a Clemson University football or basketball game or watching those teams excel on television from the best seat in the house. Quieter interests include crossword puzzles (an inherited gift from my mom!) and the newer rage: Sudoku puzzles.
The last pursuit I’ll mention is the one that brought you to this site, my poetry. My life has been richly blessed with an abundance of facinating, lovable and some eccentric characters. My interactions with them under different circumstances has yielded a wealth of poetic fodder. I thoroughly enjoy putting these observations to rhyme, with a measure of humor or whimsy. This site, created by and at the urging of Nancy, my dear wife, seems to be the perfect vehicle. Please help yourself to my offerings and enjoy!
